¡Hola a todos! Sé que estoy subiendo pocas reseñas últimamente pero es que he descubierto el fascinante mundo del ganchillo y estoy que no paro. El libro que traigo hoy me lo regaló una señora y, la verdad, se ha pasado casi un año en la pila de pendientes porque no me llamaba nada la atención. Hace unos días decidí probar a leerlo y quitármelo ya de encima y la verdad que no esperaba que me fuera a resultar una lectura tan maravillosa. ¡Dentro reseña!

El Alquimista cuenta la historia de Santiago, un pastor andaluz que tuvo un sueño que se repetía y que le decía que en las Pirámides de Egipto había un tesoro esperándole. Santiago decidió entonces ir a una gitana a que le interpretara el sueño. Quizá los que no seáis de España no sepáis que normalmente algunas gitanas dicen tener poderes como la adivinación y esas cosas para ganarse la vida. El caso es que la gitana le dijo que el sueño significaba literalmente eso: que fuera a las Pirámides de Egipto.

Santiago se va de casa de la gitana pensando que le había timado y entonces se encuentra con un anciano que dice ser un rey y que le habla de la Leyenda Personal. Esta conversación le hizo decidirse a vender sus ovejas y viajar a Marruecos para empezar así su viaje hasta Egipto. Por el camino conoció a un Inglés que también estaba intentando realizar su Leyenda Personal que consistía en convertir el plomo en oro y para ello debía encontrar a un Alquimista que vivía en un oasis en el desierto.

Por su lado, el Alquimista sabía que pronto llegaría a su oasis un hombre que estaba llamado a ser su discípulo y al que debería enseñar todo lo que sabe. ¿Será el Inglés el discípulo que busca el Alquimista? ¿Llegará Santiago a Egipto y encontrará su tesoro?

El Alquimista es un libro corto (177 páginas) y aunque no es un libro con momentos de acción y aventuras trepidantes, es una lectura muy ligera y amena. Sin embargo, lo que hace que El Alquimista sea una historia diferente es que es un libro muy espiritual. Transmite mensajes y reflexiones acerca de la naturaleza, del alma de las cosas y de Dios (no hablo del Dios cristiano, no es un libro religioso. Un judío, musulmán, cristiano o budista puede leer sobre Dios e identificarlo con su propio Dios). Esos mensajes me han hecho detenerme a pensar y darme cuenta de lo que realmente importa en la vida. Creo que es una lectura que volveré a repetir porque tiene tantos mensajes que seguro que muchos se me han escapado esta vez. Me gustaría llegar a saber cómo Paulo Coelho puede albergar tanta sabiduría dentro de sí para haber escrito algo tan hermoso.

La edición que yo tengo (y que aparece arriba) viene con un apéndice didáctico que supongo es para que si lo leen niños puedan hacer ejercicios de comprensión lectora. Yo, sinceramente, no he mirado el apéndice pero quizá si queréis que un niño que conocéis lo lea, debáis echarle un vistazo a esta edición. En definitiva, es una lectura que recomiendo muchísimo porque aunque es muy ligera, está llena de significado y cuando la termináis os deja el alma calentita.

Hi, everyone! I know I recently posted few reviews but I discovered the wonderful world of crochet and I can’t stop. The book I bring today was gave to me from a old lady and, the truth is that it has been almost a year in the to-read pile because I wasn’t interested in it at all. Some days ago I decided to try reading it and shake it off me and the truth is I couldn’t expect it could be such a wonderful read. Let’s go with the review!

The Alchemist is a story about Santiago, an andalusian shepherd that had a dream that used to repeat in which he went to Pyramids of Egypt to find a treasure that was waiting for him. Then Santiago decided to go to a gipsy woman so she could tell him the meaning of his dream. Maybe if you aren’t from Spain you don’t know that usually some gipsy women say they have powers like fortune-telling  and such things to earn their lives. The point is that the gipsy told him the dream’s meaning was literally that: to go to Pyramids Egypt.

Santiago went off the gipsy’s house thinking she had cheated him and then he found an old man that said he was a king. The man told him about the Personal Legend. This conversation made Santiago to decide to sell his sheeps and travel to Morocco to start his journey to Egypt. In his path he met an English man that was also trying to do his Personal Legend which consisted in turn the lead into gold and for that he should find an Alchemist who lived in a oasis at the desert.

On the other hand, the Alchemist knew that soon will arrived to the oasis a man who was destined to be his disciple and he should teach him all what he knew. Will be the English man the disciple the Alchemist is looking for? Will Santiago arrive to Egypt and find his treasure?

The Alchemist is a short book (177 pages) and although it isn’t a book with moments of action and awesome adventures, is a light and nice read. However, the thing that makes a diferent story of The Alchemist is that it is a very spiritual book. It transmits messages and thoughts about nature, the soul of the things and God (I’m not talking about christian God, it isn’t a religious book. A jewish, muslim, christian or buddhist can read about God and identify it with their own God). Those messages made me stop to think and realise what really matters in life. I think it’s a read I will repeat because it has so many messages that it’s sure I missed many of them this time. I would like to know how Paulo Coelho can have so much wisdom inside him so he could write something so beautiful.

The edition I have (the one on the top) has an educational appendix that I suppose is for children can do exercises of reading comprehension. I, sincerely, didn’t look the appendix but maybe if you want a child you know read the book, you should look this edition. To sum up, this is a read I recommend so bad because although it is light, is full of meaning and when you finish it, it let your soul warm.
